Red Dead Dilemma
This week Rockstar Games announced Red Redemption 2 arrives for PC on November 5th. For those who’ve been following my blogs it’s no secret that RD2 is one of my favorite games this year. The only downside for an almost perfect game to me is its performance on PS4.
Since I’m not playing on the Playstation Pro, I have to do with 30 frames per second (in some cases even less) and less graphical fidelity. Now, in the current generation of console games there are a few gems out there where the frame rate is less of an issue to me. For instance Uncharted 4 and God of War run at the same frame rate, feature godlike graphics and both play super smooth.
On the other hand, in the case of Red Dead Redemption 2, I truly feel hardware (meaning base PS4 and Xbox) is holding the game back. In this case I want to enjoy the game to its fullest. When you compare Grand Theft Auto V on Playstation 3 and the ‘remaster’ on Playstation 4 it was a giant leap forward, and for some reason I expect the same from RD2 on PC.
Money aside (after buying a new PC, games are expensive … ), my biggest doubt is that I’ll have to start the game all over and I’m not sure if I can make the time investment of going through the campaign all over again, right up to the point where I currently am on console.
Buy the goddamn game already you might think … well … I have until October 22nd to decide to go for the pre-order. Luckily there hasn’t been a trailer yet. Once that one’s out I’m probably lost.
You can find more info and details for the PC release on Rockstar Games.
