Post Holiday Reset
Unfortunately my vacation period is already over, and what I didn’t expected was it had an influence on my gaming habits. Before I was trying to finish Red Dead Redemption 2 with a little side track to Grand Theft Auto V feeding my urge to play a bit in a more modern open world setting.
But no, EVO 2019 got me itching for fighting games again. A week later I got together with a friend playing some offline sets in Street Fighter V, Tekken 7 and SoulCalibur VI and I got to admit it was the most fun I had playing games in a very long time.
So yes, I’m back into fighting games but my intention is to keep it more moderate with lowered expectations and just focus on having fun. The git gud mindset was making me frustrated and perhaps even a bit toxic to myself, making me fail to see how enjoyable the struggle can be. It’s just a matter of being realistic on how fast you can grow as a player in regard to your private situation (which in my case is very slow).
Content-wise, I’m also brooding on some ideas along these topics, but nothing concrete just yet. It will all depend on how much free time I’ll have in the next couple of weeks (and to be fair, how I will spend it) and if these thoughts will ever hatch.
One more thing before I finish this post. This week saw the release of No Man’s Sky Beyond, and I must admit I’m platonically in love with this game and it’s developer. Since release they’ve been through such a shitstorm, but patch after patch they are improving on the foundations of this game which in my opinion is a real tour de force. Let’s just forget about their initial release and move on. It’s time. Let’s move beyond!
