Playing it Single
Lately I’m at loss about what to play. Mortal Kombat 11 is a really fantastic game (see my video Punching Mortal Kombat 11 if you haven’t), but for some reason I can’t seem to motivate myself anymore to play, train and git gud. In case of MK11 it would have been an ideal situation getting to know the game from the start, but my guess is that I’m burned out on trying to be competitive in general, which is a bit of a shame. I’ll probably keep playing it ARAM-style with a friend (hidden cursor and random select for the win!), but that’s about it for now.
I was again pulled into Sim Racing with the release of Assetto Corsa Competizione, but as my old school PC can’t seem to run it at a decent frame rate, I ended up rediscovering regular Assetto Corsa again. What a great game that was! It made me consider going all in on iRacing for a second, but there’s me trying to be competitive again … I’ve parked the idea for now, but someday I’ll get back to it.
So what’s left stepping down the social ladder all reclusing it up? A massive backlog of single player games! I continued playing Spider-Man on PS4, but the combat system hasn’t clicked just yet. Concluding from the clips I’ve seen online it looks like I’m playing the game all wrong, so it’s about time I’ll learn and push my progress beyond 20% completion.
Another game on my mind is Divinity: Original Sin II. I once bought this one to support the Belgian developer Larian Studios (go Ghent!), but postponed playing till the release of the Definitive Edition. All of a sudden we are 9 months overdue, so guess it’s time to deliver. Massive game this one, so I’ve not gotten past a small taste just yet.
Now there is a game that’s slowly getting me in its grip for a second time, and it goes by the name of Red Dead Redemption 2. The atmosphere is just perfect for the mental state I’m in right now. Enjoying the story while horsing around (the top definition on Urban Dictionary by the way) in one of the coolest open worlds ever seems to bring the peace of mind I need at the moment.
Despite my short attention span I hope I can sit RD2 out this time, but that will prove to be hard with all the discounts and sales going on lately, though it’s better to swipe them all to the left cause I do need to save up for a new PC. Besides that, I also suspect a shitload of trailers since E3 2019 is starting this weekend (trailers incoming in the video section!). It will prove to be hard to keep my focus, but I’m up for the challenge. Wait and see!
